Do not wait until the crew arrives to finish packing, disassemble obvious furniture, or decide what is moving. Avoid adding a large amount of inventory at the last minute. Keep a clear path through the home so movers are not navigating loose items.
4–6: Access Problems
Do not ignore parking, elevator reservations, gates, stairs, or building rules. A long walk from the truck or an unavailable elevator can change the pace of the job dramatically. Confirm access at both addresses before moving day.
7–9: Packing Problems
Avoid oversized boxes full of books, unsealed cartons, loose fragile items, and boxes with no room labels. Do not pack documents, medication, keys, wallets, phones, chargers, or irreplaceable valuables into the truck by accident.
10–12: Communication Problems
Make sure the mover has the correct addresses and a reachable contact number. Tell the crew which items are not moving and which require special handling. If plans change, communicate early instead of waiting until loading is underway.
13–15: Final Walkthrough Problems
Do not leave before checking closets, cabinets, garages, attics, patios, storage spaces, and appliance interiors. At the destination, avoid signing off mentally before checking that major furniture and the expected boxes arrived. Keep moving paperwork and receipts together.
