Inventory Before Removing
Create an inventory of desks, chairs, shelving, electronics, appliances, files, and miscellaneous equipment. Mark items by department or destination so reusable assets are not accidentally removed.
Protect Data
Computers, drives, printers, phones, and other devices may contain business information. Follow your organization's data-retention and secure-erasure procedures before electronics leave your control.
Handle Records Properly
Paper records may be subject to internal retention rules or legal requirements. Separate ordinary recycling from documents requiring secure destruction. Do not place sensitive records in an open junk pile.
Reuse or Donate Furniture
Usable desks, chairs, cabinets, and conference furniture may be candidates for resale, donation, or reuse. Decide this before the hauling crew arrives and label each group clearly.
Plan Building Access
Coordinate loading docks, freight elevators, security access, parking, certificates, and approved work hours with property management. Commercial buildings may have stricter requirements than homes.
Reduce Business Disruption
Schedule noisy dismantling and major removal outside critical work periods when possible. Clean one area at a time so employees and equipment can transition without turning the entire office into a staging area.
